As part of the Open Call 2024 for the World Design Capital Frankfurt RheinMain 2026, 3deluxe has unveiled the concept for the WDC Embassy Wiesbaden—a striking, multifunctional structure designed to serve as a visible hub for connection and exchange in Wiesbaden.
The project embodies a bold approach to sustainable design by repurposing valuable resources. Its open framework is constructed from rotor blade segments of decommissioned wind turbines, donated by manufacturers free of charge. Before assembly, these blades are transformed into unique, large-scale artworks by graffiti artists, giving the structure an expressive and dynamic character.
Throughout 2026, the Embassy will host a diverse range of events inspired by the WDC theme, "Design for Democracy. Atmospheres for a Better Life." Exhibitions, workshops, lectures, concerts, communal meals, and public debates will activate the space, fostering dialogue and engagement with key issues of the World Design Capital.
The WDC Embassy Wiesbaden invites people to reimagine how we design and live together, offering an inspiring intersection of creativity, sustainability, and civic participation. This innovative concept represents a forward-thinking contribution to the World Design Capital 2026 vision.
